Professor Alice Roberts returns with a revamp of the BBC’s much loved format Digging for Britain. This exciting new Series 9 has moved from BBC4 to Primetime BBC2 for an extended run of 6 episodes.  Every year, hundreds of archaeological digs from across the British Isles find clues that add to the great historical jigsaw of Britain’s story and our ancestors’ lives.  In this series, archaeologists up and down the country have been given diary cameras to record their extraordinary discoveries as they happen, and Alice joins them on some of their most spectacular digs.  From Neolithic hand axes to World War II fighter planes, elaborate Roman keys to Saxon swords, the rich history of the UK is revealed and examined like never before.

This series Alice is joined by a new team of experts who will dig deeper to understand the story behind the finds, and the most exciting artefacts are brought into Alice’s new Digging Tent to be analysed and understood in a way that provides insight and revelation spanning 10,000 years of British history.
